Congratulations Danny!
This year's Cinco de Mayo was very exciting for my family! My younger brother, Daniel Barnes, began the final leg of his U.S. Marine Corps Boot Camp training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego with a medal ceremony. It's been a long 13 weeks for both Danny and the family. We're so excited his graduation date is finally here (tomorrow)! Pictured above is Danny saluting the Stars & Stripes with his Platoon (2067) just before the medal ceremony. Can you spot Private First Class Daniel Barnes? He's in the third row, almost exactly in the center of the photo.

Home From Havasupai!

My trek to Havasupai Indian Reservation was quite the adventure! From rain to snow to a near evacuation of the canyon, my friends and I had a very eventful trek to the infamous Havasu Falls! As you can see from the photo above, the waterfalls were absolutely spectacular, and the hike into the Grand Canyon was very scenic. Click here to view my photo gallery.

Coastal Cruising Certified!
I successfully completed my Basic Coastal Cruising Certification through the American Sailing Association this weekend. If you haven't visited me in awhile, it's time you come to America's Finest City so we can go for a sail on a larger sailboat (up to 32' in length). I'm already looking forward to my first trip to Catalina! I'm hoping to make it up for a quick weekend trip in May.

Danny Begins Boot Camp
My younger brother, Danny, missed the Super Bowl last night to begin his training to become a U.S. Marine. If you've always wondered what it's like to go through a military boot camp, take a look at their schedule. It's sure not easy by any means. Hats off to Danny for taking on the challenge and serving our country! Danny plans to go through the Aviation program and become a fighter pilot. When he's done with the service, he wants to be an airline pilot. The countdown is on to May 6th when he graduates from MCRD!

Happy New Year From Times Square!
Armed with my official Times Square party hat and balloon, I rang in 2005 in grand fashion with my family in New York City! My younger brother and I braved an enormous crowd and endured more than 11 hours of waiting for the infamous Waterford cyrstal ball to drop in Times Square. Was it worth it? Yes, most definitely! It was an incredible experience!
